As we get closer to the holidays and Thanksgiving, I would like to dedicate this post towards the holiday spirit and giving thanks.

I am thankful for my loving girlfriend who supports me with everything I do, my parents and brother who help me succeed in school and support my many hobbies. I am also very thankful for my pets because they're very silly and help brighten my day. On the other hand, I am thankful for everything that I've learned and committed myself to because it allowed me to grow and develop as a person. One of the skills I've been learning is Photography in class.

Originally used in blue scavenger Hunt.

This is one of my personal favorite photos I've taken for multiple reasons. I took it zoomed in at a slightly higher shutter speed. In editing, I lowered the exposure and cropped into the center. I love how the shadows on and in the birdhouse leave an absence and mystery about the birdhouse. The depth of field on the leaves in the background allow you to get a sense of depth and perspective. You're able to see the natural light shine through the leaves which makes it all feel collected to nature. The bright blue adds a nice contrast between the surroundings while matching the sky above it.

Used to demonstrate the effects of high shutter speeds.

This is another photo I took that I love. I took it at a very high shutter speed zoomed in. In editing I found that it was dark, so I brought up the exposure a bit. This photo makes me feel like I froze time with how unnatural it is to see something as common as water in this shape. I love how you can see the ripple of the other water droplet mid landing and the darker feel that this photo gives because of the overcast day. It goes well with the photo because the overcast lighting and the water droplets fit the theme and idea of the photo. The slight amount of rust on the drain adds a nice little touch of weathering.

Colorful flowers up close showing contrast of color

This photo was one I took recently in class for fun and it is personally my favorite because there is so much little detail to it. I took it close to the lens but with a wider angle to get as many as the flowers as possible. I was at a higher shutter speed, so I got less light. I then in editing cropped it a little but most importantly I left the colors alone. I felt it was important to get the natural colors in the final image. I was disappointed that I had to downsize the image for this website because it loses so much of its power.

The bright colors of the flowers as they alternate as you look closer. The dark background that adds an amazing contrast to the image. All the differing flowers in their different stages of life. The sharp edges of the green leaves paired with the smooth round velvety flowers packed with bright color. My favorite part about this image is that you can zoom into it and see almost repeating flowers like natures fractal.
